One person I met had said the above statement to me. She had HIV-AIDS. I found no difference between her and me.
So, let’s not treat the victims with difference. It’s the World AIDS Day today and a statistic shows that an estimated 33.2 million people worldwide live with HIV as of 2007. AIDS claimed an estimated 2 million lives in 2007 of which, about 270,000 were children. Most of those children were born with HIV, and it’s not their fault, not in any way.
AIDS is said to be one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history. But you know what I think?. I think it’s not the AIDS that is an epidemic itself. It’s the wrong way of seeing those innocent victims that has become an epidemic. Our society’s way of avoiding the victims, expressing hatred towards them directly or indirectly, and treating the HIV-AIDS victim as an outcast is the actual epidemic here. Thus, let us fight against AIDS and start treating the victims in the right way, the way they deserve to be treated. AIDS shortens the lives of the victims, but let us not worsen it by excluding them from among us.

While analyzing the last couple of weeks, Keki remembers the successful completion of election in an adverse situation and the qualification of Nepali cricket team to the Cricket World Cup. In the case of election, the political parties, the government and the people had teamed up to complete the election successfully. Similarly, the cricket team had worked together to win the games against rivals. She says, “It wouldn’t have been possible without the individual input of our Nepali Cricketers and their team effort.”
